White Flowers for Cancer Drugs
Cancer August 30th, 2010

Jakarta, flowers white or Baby’s Breath flowers are beautiful is usually only found in a flower shop. But recent studies find another property behind the beauty of this interest, namely the treatment of cancer.
Experts say that a scientific name flower extract Gypsophila paniculata, can increase the efficiency of anti-cancer drug to a million-fold.
They found a molecule called saponins from the extracts of white flowers that are native flowers of Eastern Europe. These molecules can break the membrane of cancer cells.
Saponin molecule makes antibody-based drugs, known as immunotoxin easier to be able to attack cancer cells.
Consequently, immunotherapy is used to treat some types of leukemia (blood cancer) and lymphoma (cancer of lymphocytes) increased by more than one million-fold.
This discovery has been conducted by scientists who work for charities leukemia Busters, based in Southampton, Hants. And updated research on the Simon Flavell leukemia Research Laboratory at Southampton General Hospital.
The charity is managed by Dr David and Bee Flavell, Flavell whose son Simon died in 1990 because of an incurable blood cancer when he was 10 years old.
“I’m usually very careful with what I say especially about things like this. But this discovery could truly revolutionize the way of antibody-based drugs work, and will save lives,” said Dr David Flavell, as reported by the Telegraph, Friday (30/04/2010).
According to Dr David, this white flower extracts can not only apply to leukemia, there is a big possibility this drug can also be used for various types of cancer.
This breakthrough is the result of 12 months of research and testing in collaboration with scientists based in the German capital, Berlin.
“We still need to conduct laboratory-based work to further develop the invention into a practical and safe treatment for patients. And the money is key to achieving all this,” said Dr Flavell.
Scientists and doctors in leukemia Busters has been working tirelessly night and day for years, and they rely solely on donor generosity as well as contributions to fund this research.
What Can and Can Not For Kidney Stone Patient
Health Tips August 30th, 2010

Jakarta, the mineral content of some foods can trigger the formation of kidney stones. However, several other types of food that can prevent it. Anything?
Kidney function is to filter out impurities in the blood, to be discharged with urine. Kidney stones are formed when impurities from the food to harden and form crystals in the kidney and ureter.
Restrictions on certain foods are effective for preventing formation of these crystals. Here are some of the recommended diet for people with kidney stones, quoted from Gicare, Monday (05/03/2010):
1. Expand drinking water
Water is the most important diet to prevent kidney stones, kidney stone-forming of the components becomes easier shed with urination. Kidney stone patients are advised to urinate around 2.5 liters a day, so must drink more than that amount. If the weather is hot or is a lot of activity, consumption of water must be propagated to more frequent urination.
2. Limit calcium
Usually the body will not absorb more calcium than is needed. However, in certain conditions such as hipercalciuria, excess calcium excreted through the kidneys in urine. Kidney stone patients are advised to limit the maximum calcium intake 800 mg / day for males and 1200 mg / day for women.
Calcium is found in many green vegetables, milk and other dairy products. Calcium in milk is more easily absorbed by the intestine than in the greens.
3. Limit oxalate
Together with calcium, oxalate (acid containing COO2 units) can form crystals cause kidney stones. Therefore, kidney stone patients are advised to reduce or even completely avoid foods that contain a lot of oxalate. Among them are spinach, strawberry, chocolate, wheat, grains and tea.
Kidney stone patients are advised to limit consumption of oxalate is not more than 50 mg / day.
4. Limit salt and vegetable protein
Limiting salt intake of sodium may reduce the amount of calcium released through the kidneys. Therefore, if a stone is formed is calcium, the sodium salt consumption should be limited between 2500-3500 mg / day.
While animal protein can trigger some types of minerals in the urine to form kidney stones. Therefore, patients with kidney stones should be replaced with vegetable protein.
5. Expand insoluble fiber
There are two types of fibers that are soluble fiber and insoluble fiber, each has the same function in the body is important. But in this case, the insoluble fiber found in wheat, rice and wheat can reduce the levels of calcium in the urine. These fibers bind calcium when in the intestine, so that is not expelled through the kidneys.
6. Limit your intake of vitamin C
One result of the metabolism of vitamin C is oxalate. Because oxalate crystals could form, so patients with kidney stones should limit intake of vitamin C.
Burger must be balanced More Vegetables
Weight Loss August 30th, 2010
Foods such as burgers, pizza, or hot dogs, has now become part of our diet everyday. Especially when we have children, who are happy-happy eating fast food-style malls. Surely we will often follow their diet.
To be a need for a balanced diet with nutrition are met, we are often advised to make your own burger-style fast food restaurant by adding vegetables. However, this suggestion remains to be considered, and should not be used as a benchmark.
According to Edwin Lau, a professional chef, vegetables such as lettuce or tomatoes are “tucked” in between the burgers actually could not practically be an imbalance (between carbohydrates, protein, and fat are in a serving burgers).
“If the burgers, as shown in fast food restaurants, (the amount of vegetables) is not balanced. The need for us 30 grams of fiber a day, and it is equal to four to five cups of vegetables a day,” says Edwin, after the launch of Premium Wagyu Burger at MOS Burger, Extension Plaza Indonesia, Jakarta, Wednesday (04/21/2010).
Vegetables are also must be in a variety of types, not enough to just lettuce. Edwin gave an example, if we let the lettuce was sprawled on the table for a month, lettuce it will disappear. This is because about 98 percent of the lettuce is water, while only 2 percent of the fiber.
Therefore, vegetables such as those found in the burgers should be treated as additional only, not as a fulfillment of the need for fiber. Or in other words, besides enjoying a burger, we still have to eat four to five cups vegetable earlier.

Lately I have the impression of death from accidents in our country increases. I follow the news in the media about the accident in some areas in the country. Accidents on the highway, an accident in the water, in air accidents, and accidents are also caused by the use of gas cylinders. Accidents due to natural disasters.
We seemed to care about this accident. Unfortunately, I also have the impression most of us just follow the news, but did not make an effort to reduce the accident rate. Everyone who had an accident and their families will suffer and bear the heavy burden. They are not just numbers, but are human beings like us as well.
I do not know whether the prevention of accidents is one of the health effort. However, I find it easier to approach this issue in terms of health rather than legal perspective, and others. Therefore, I wanted to ask what community efforts to reduce the number of medical accidents that lead to disability and death.
I understand this issue requires support from various parties. Health circles can not work alone, but must be supported by central and local government, transportation manager. However, I want the medical community who took the initiative to find an effective accident prevention efforts in our country.

Answer
We’re determined to build human resources healthy and productive. Accidents can be prevented even though it is certainly not easy to eliminate accidents. In countries that have been spelled out ahead once the accident still happened. Only difference is, accidents that happened in our country is largely due to our negligence.
Our behavior is not in accordance with safe behavior is to avoid accidents. We wear helmets when riding motorcycles with the aim to protect our head from a hard object collision. However, not a few people who wear helmets to avoid sanctions simply a traffic cop. Consequently, if there were no police, he did not use a helmet properly.
So it is with seat belts. In fact, seat belts have been proven to reduce the risk of disability and death if a collision occurs. However, again there are still many people who use them just to comply with the regulations. So, attitudes are aware of the danger of this accident should be improved in the community.
We lurk accident. Even at home can also be an accident, fire, explosion of gas cylinders, electrical shock, and injury to children playing in the kitchen, on stairs, or in the pool house. We are usually aware of the danger of accidents if there has been an accident. However, our concern only for a moment and soon will be lost. And the same accident will not happen again and takes another victim.
Take the example of an overturned boat or ship. In general passenger boat, although not using the buoy floats in many marine transportation is available. I’ve seen it happen in a tourist area to the passenger asked for a vest that had a boat. However, who had a boat that says it’s okay because as long as there is never an accident on the tourist areas. This is a portrait of our behavior are vulnerable to accidents.
Of course regulation and supervision also are important. I once took the river tour in Chaophraya River, Bangkok. Suddenly, our boat approached the police superintendent, apparently there are passengers who seem not to use a life jacket. This mechanism is generally not walked in our country. We lift the cap on community solidarity and the SAR team moved quickly to help victims of the accident. However, it would be nice if the system is also equipped with an effective accident prevention systems and protect the public.
Safe habits
In general we expect the government to act in reducing the number of accidents. However, please be aware that the community can also protect themselves with a free practice crash attitude. This includes arranging the house so minimal risk of accidents at home. For example, by keeping the kitchen, bathroom, stairs, installation of electricity, gas and chemicals do not pose a risk to residents, especially children and elderly people.
I’ve got an interesting information about the improvement of safety in a mining company in East Kalimantan. At the company is certainly no attempt to achieve an accident free. However, the assessment of employees on safety does not stop at the time worked at the company, but must become a habit of life, both in the workplace or on the road or at home.
If an employee is a ticket for not wearing safety belts on the highway, it would affect the employee appraisal even though it happened outside the workplace. This company wants to instill good safety habits in the workplace, on the road, and at home. So, safe living habits should inherent in ourselves, not because of company rules.
The mass media can actually help a lot. The sad news about an accident can proceed with the extension so that the incident was not repeated. Risky instruments that cause accidents, such as gas cylinders, it should comes with ways to use the safe as well as guidelines recognize a leak, and others.
We are committed to reducing maternal mortality, infant mortality, and of course we also want to reduce mortality due to accidents.

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Rising global temperatures caused by global warming might affect the sleep quality of many people. Naturally, the hormone melatonin, the introduction to sleep, will be produced when the body temperature lower. The weather was hot and bright light inhibits melatonin and suspected cause of people have trouble sleeping.
“The hormone melatonin, naturally will come out close to nine hours a night, along with decreasing body temperature. That’s why the cold and cool when we sleep easier so sleepy and sleep more soundly,” said Amir dr.Nurmiati, Sp.KJ (K) , the RSCM Jakarta.
In fact, melatonin is a natural hormone produced by the body to regulate human biological sleep clock. This substance is only produced when it was getting dark. It was then that melatonin gives the “alarm” in the body, which commands a person to relax, drowsiness, and sleep. Toward morning, the body temperature increases and decreases melatonin production, so we woke up.
The body of teenagers and adults produce 5-25 micrograms of melatonin every night. This concentration will decrease with age. No wonder if many elderly (senior citizen) who experience difficulty sleeping disorders.

Researchers believe it is not henna itself is problematic, but the compounds used as solvents henna powder is dangerous.
Known to the public using a solution of benzene (a chemical to the solvent) which has been known to cause cancer. These compounds have been banned in many countries, however there are still uses it.
“Most women in the United Arab Emirates routinely use henna to dye your nails, hands, feet, and to decorate most of the arms and legs with skin as a cosmetic reasons,” said a team from the United Arab Emirates hospital published in leukemia and lymphoma, as quoted from the Telegraph, Tuesday (05/11/2010).

In one research journal found that about 93 percent of blood cancer patients with acute myeloid leukemia types are women compared to men in the United Arab Emirates. Local women with cancer was 63 percent higher than foreign women.
Henna is very popular because it is regarded as a natural product, but at this henna praktikknya sometimes mixed with other chemical compounds. Scientists have warned for years that certain cosmetic products may contain an additive compounds associated with cancer.
In these countries the Middle East Gulf, the use of henna is regarded as one form of cosmetic art. But the local government acknowledged that some clinics often use henna pastes were mixed with benzene or other additive compounds.
