In order for Sinus No Easy Relapse
Health News November 5th, 2009
Jakarta, Many people who suffer from sinusitis or sinus very annoyed with the symptoms caused. However, there is no practical way to cure this disease. The best thing is do not prevent the recurrence of the sinus.
Dr. Agus Subagio, Sp ENT, ENT specialist who practices in RS Puri Indah explain sinusitis is an inflammation of sinus cavities. This disease often occurs in people allergic to the originators such as dust or cold air.
Almost the same symptoms caused by common flu that often occur during the rainy season, such as runny nose, nasal congestion, mucus, fever and headache (usually when I wake up), snot is yellow or greenish, smelly breath, cough, mucus, high fever (above 39 degrees Celsius), toothache, and less sensitive to the taste and smell.
Many people who can not stand the pain so choose to immediate surgery, but sometimes surgery is performed many times.
Sinus is a disease that easily relapse. If the patient is not clever-clever away from the sinuses can trigger another recurrence despite surgery.
“The failure of sinus surgery and had to be done many times mostly because of factors from the sufferers themselves,” said Dr. Agus.
Since there is no practical way to eliminate sinus, addressing the causes of sinus better than trying to restore a severe attack.
As quoted from Sinuswars, Monday (4/26/2010), the following steps so that no recurrence of sinus, namely:
1. Immediately treat allergies and colds
Inflammation in the nose caused by allergies and colds can give a strong reaction to all irritants, which can aggravate sinusitis. Immediately treat allergies and colds can prevent sinus recurrence.
2. Using filters
Electrostatic filters attached to heating and air conditioning equipment is very helpful to remove allergens from the air.
3. Avoid pollution
Exposure of the environment polluted and contaminated air can irritate the nasal tract and aggravate sinusitis. Chemicals and smoke can also interfere with the sinus lining.
4. Eliminate smoking
Tobacco and smoke known to cause irritation of the lining of the sinuses, which exacerbate the flow of mucus and make the sinus becomes accumulate.
5. Reduce alcohol consumption
Consumption of alcohol may cause nasal and sinus membranes to swell, causing irritation and infection.
6. Reduce travel through air
Travel air line can cause problems for patients with chronic or acute sinus.
Air bubbles trapped in the body expands as air pressure drops on the plane. This put pressure on surrounding tissue and can lead to obstruction of Eustachian tube (tube that connects the ear to the throat).
The result, can lead to discomfort in sinuses or middle ear during airplane flights, especially when the ride (take off) and landing (landing).
Typically, doctors will recommend using decongestant nose drops or inhalers before the flight before taking flight.
7. Drinking lots of water
Water increase the amount of water vapor in the body and helps to prevent congestion of mucus. It also helps to thin mucus for proper drainage.
8. Avoid swimming sports
Swim in the pool with berklorin can cause irritation of mucous and nasal cavity. If you really want to swim, swim in the sea should not berklorin.
9. Avoid skin diving
Divers often experience congestion resulting in sinus infection, which forced water into the sinuses from the nasal passages.
10. Keep clean
Bacterial and viral infections are common causes of sinusitis. Frequently wash hands with soap and water can prevent recurrence of sinusitis.
11. Minimize consumption of dairy products
Excessive consumption of dairy products can thicken mucus and cause narrowing the nostrils, causing pain and headaches.
12. Avoid extreme temperatures
Too high and low temperatures, or sudden changes can increase the pain of sinusitis.
13. Steam bath
Hot steam baths can release mucus and moisten the throat, allowing the proper flow of the nasal cavity.
14. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables
Eating fruits and vegetables rich in antioxidants and other substances, can boost the immune system and helps fight infection.
15. Reduce stress
Although some of us do not realize it, stress makes the symptoms of sinusitis worse. If you have sinusitis in the past, stress can trigger or make it worse.
16. Use of natural herbal medicine
Use of herbal medicines as vitamin supplements, and homeopathic natural flow of mucus that can be launched like a betel leaf stew.
Cancer Causes Indonesian People
Cancer November 5th, 2009

Jakarta, Cancer is abnormal cell growth which attacks the organ so quickly that its functions were destroyed and the cause of death. Cancer may be caused by genetic and environmental factors.
In Indonesia and the world every year of cancer cases continues to rise. Starting from the highest breast cancer, cervical cancer (cervix), lung cancer, colon cancer (colorectal), prostate cancer, blood cancer, bone cancer, liver cancer, skin cancer. At least in the world there are more than 100 types of cancer.
Director General of Disease Control and Environmental Health (P2PL) The Ministry of Health, Prof.. dr. Tjandra Yoga Aditama in a seminar in Jakarta on Monday (4/26/2010) said cancer is a contagious disease which does not become a public health problem, both in this world and in Indonesia.
In the world, 12 percent of all deaths caused by cancer and the number two killer after cardiovascular disease. WHO and World Bank estimates that every year, 12 million people worldwide suffer from cancer and 7.6 million of whom died.
If not controlled, an estimated 26 million people will suffer from cancer and 17 million died of cancer in 2030. Ironically, these events will occur more rapidly in poor and developing countries.
dr. Tjandra said that there are several factors that cause high rates of cancer in Indonesia, namely:
1. 23.7 percent smoked
2. Obesity in the population over 15 years that is 13.9 percent male and 23.8 percent in women.
3. Less consumption of fruit and vegetables 93.6 percent
4. Consumption of food preserved 6.3 percent
5. 12.8 per cent of fatty foods
6. Foods with 77.8 percent flavoring
7th. Lack of physical activity amounting to 48.2 percent.
In order for the number of cancer patients do not continue to grow needs to be done to prevent such as:
1. No smoking and no consumption of alcohol.
2. Avoid excessive exposure to ultraviolet light
3. Prevent obesity with healthy diet (consuming five servings of fruits and vegetables a day)
4. Perform physical ctivities (exercise) 30 minutes a day.
5. Early detection periodically at health facilities.
“These efforts need to be promoted continuously to reduce the number of cancer patients,” said Prof. Tjandra.
Based on data Riskesdas, 2007, according to Prof.. Tjandra Yoga, in Indonesia the ratio of tumor or cancer was 4.3 per 1000 population. Cancer is the leading cause of death 7 (5.7%) after stroke, tuberculosis, hypertension, injury, perinatal and Diabetes Mellitus.
Meanwhile, according to data Hospital Information System (HIS) in 2007, breast cancer ranked first in-patients in all hospitals in Indonesia (16.85%), followed by cervical cancer (11.78%).
The highest cancer suffered by Indonesian women is breast cancer incidence 26 per 100,000 women, followed by cervical cancer by 16 per 100,000 women.
“Experts estimate 40% of cancer could be prevented by reducing and avoiding risk factors for cancer,” says Prof. Tjandra Yoga.
Since 2007, the pilot controlling the cervical and breast cancer through early detection has been developed. In 2010, lung cancer control program became one of the programs to be developed.
Lung cancer control implemented through primary prevention (promotion and education), secondary (early detection and immediate treatment), and Tertiary (palliative care).
“Control is the most effective and efficient is primary prevention, ie adopt a healthy lifestyle,” explained Prof. Tjandra.
